Direct Vent Fireplace
My question is concerning the terminology of mechanical air inlet. I have installed a direct vent gas fireplace and the instructions give specific distances for the termination cap to mechanical air inlets. My question is a bathroom exhaust fan a mechanical air inlet (I have installed a few of these in the past but have never had to deal with the tight spaces I am now). My common sense tells me that a inlet is differant from an exhaust.

Re: Direct Vent Fireplace
No a bathroom exhaust fan is not the same as a mechanical air inlet.
With a direct vent FP you will have an air intake that can be part of the exhaust flue. You need to post the model number and brand you are dealing with. We have several fireplace specialist that visit this site that might be able to help if you provide them with some additional information.
You have to follow the specific manufacturers requirements with fireplaces.
