Thread: Site lurker from Maine

I am a retired structural engineer living in Georgetown Maine. I did mostly industrial work, but I am planning on building an underground house so I visit this site because: 1) I find it interesting; 2) I am looking for problems to avoid in the house I am planning, and 3) I am looking for ideas I might incorporate in my design.

Good timing about building underground, what with the weather changes we are seeing.

One problem I hear about underground structures is water leakage from the roof areas. Seems to be a problem area. How deep are you planning to go? I often thought it would be neat to purchase a former military missile silo or other former military bunker.

Hope you build it up on high ground given rising oceans and tidal surges.
