Cool Bryan of All Trades, Master of None

    Hello Everyone,
This forum sure comes in handy for the many projects have encountered on the previous 114 year old house I owned and the "new" 114 year old house I own.
My names Bryan and I have been doing technical trade work since I was big enough to wash car parts for my Dad. It's a good thing he started me out so young too. Poor people have poor ways and it's saved me a lot of cash over the years. I'm 54 now. Of course, I'm sure you all know, it has some downsides to it. I'm currently remodeling my two story four square model home I acquired for dirt cheap after I gave my last flood zoned four square home in Des Moines back to the bank. They wouldn't do a short sell, they said it was worth more than the city was going to pay. I guess they thought it was ocean front property or something. It was. It flooded pretty much every year I lived there from '04-'11. Two times bad. I'd had enough in '10.
Anyway. This house I have now needs a little loving care, but hey it's paid for. The house was appraised for 3x what I paid for it. Right now I'm re-laying the south side block foundation. I did the north a year ago. I'm going to reroof I next year. They laid asphalt over shake shingles. Unfortunately it got a few leaks in it now and I have to do a temp fix. If not one thing it's another. It's a good thing though, keeps me alive and busy. Speaking of busy, got to get there.
Thanks for all the post. They helped me out quit a bit and kept me from doing something stupid. I'm sure I'll be on here a lot.
