Inspection of Interior Spa
I have been an inspector for 15 years. I have always removed spa tub screen when accessible and inspected interior of tub for leaks and check electrical connection for pump. Is this a requirement for inspection? I cannot find anything in ASHI or Nachi Standards to indicate that has to be done.

Not required by the SOP.
For outdoor spas/hot tubs I don't open the tub surround. I'm not sure what you mean by tub screen, but I don't take off the panels to check the pump wiring. Leaks will usually be pretty evident in a short amount of time. I open the cover, check the GFCI and wiring panels, make sure the heater and jets are working, cover it back up.
About 1/2 the time there is no water in the tub, so that makes it pretty quick.

Is the question about an spa located inside the house or outside on a deck/patio??
Is this a requirement for inspection? No, but yes.
If located interior of house. Under all SOPs that I now of it is not required by virtue of the what is visible concept. Then again you go beyond minimal application of the SOP as all should, then if you can gain access you should report on what you see. Like an appliance you can only report on your method of testing/inspection dealing with operation/function. Which is beyond most SOPs, yet should be done.
If located exterior of house deck/patio it falls into the pool and out buildings, which become a separate inspection.

Interior:
the (water heating equipment), if applicable in this case, including the (energy source,) if applicable in this case,
venting connections, temperature/pressure-relief - TPR - valves, Watts 210 valves, and seismic bracing;
interior water supply, including all (fixtures and faucets, by running the water)
all toilets for proper operation by flushing;
all sinks, (tubs) and showers for (functional drainage)
(the drain) waste and vent system; and
drainage sump pumps with accessible floats.
