Default Hello, Need info on PaRR & PB Fema Insection Jobs.

Hay, is there anyone outthere that is currently working for PaRR or PB doing FEMA Inspections? I wanted to know how much work there really is. I have heard PaRR over hires & you do not get that many assignments.

I just back a few days ago, all I did was R.I. work, All the Inspectors I talked to liked p.b. better than parr. They said parr is harder to work for. If Your new at Inspection it will take a week or two to get up to speed, I actually made the same money on R.I.. as someone in the field doing 10 inspections a day. So If your not real fast at inspecting you can make pretty good money at Registration Intake .

You need to complete all your training, workshops, and they will decide where you will be needed , when you do R.I. work you work for manpower and they take the taxes out of your check, when you work as a Inspector you are a indepdent contractor and responsible for your taxes etc. Both jobs have different pay scales.

    Hi ,
I'm currently deployed with Parr in Texas for Hurricane Ike.
It's a fun game, but very challenging. Your must be way organized and flexible. The scene charges on a moments notice. I've just finished downloading 50 new Inspections and filled out all the forms only to get a call saying "send them all back and move somewhere else".
This has happened twice on this deployment.
I've been out here from California for 33 days now and have a long way to go before they run out of work. You must commit to at least 30 days.

You are an" independent contractor" and must pay all your own expenses. You really need to have a good reserve fund to get started. The earliest you can get paid is two weeks out.
The money is good if you do it right.

Two things you will need that will make your life much easier are a measuring wheel with a Big wheel. (The little wheel cheap ones are useless in debris and tall grass.) and a good laser measuring device for inside. Measuring tapes are too slow.

Housing can be a problem. Most hotels and motels are filled with evacuees and FEMA does not always have a disaster workers camp set up close by. The camps are pretty nice. Hot showers, cots and 3 meals a day, Even a laundry. These are free for the disaster workers but you may need to drive a bit to get to your inspections. I was driving 55 miles each way for a while but FREE is good! I'm staying with friends in Texas City currently and working the Galveston, La Marque, Bacliff' area.
This sure gives you a different perspective on life and possessions. Nothing like 50 inches of water in your house to male you reevaluate your need to acquire "things"and save junk.

    Good Luck!

What is "PB" I heard of Parr.
What is the pay diffrence between the two. Does one offer more perks then the other.

PB = Parsons Brinkerhoff, another FEMA contractor.
