Re: Commercial Inspection Training
ITA does a commercial course but it is 3 days long and it fills time with a lot of technical information that a typical home inspector entering the commercial inspection market simply does not need to know.
The commercial inspection standards, process, team building, client negotiation, preparing the scope of work, inspection agreements and report writing, will all be covered in a new 1 day course by CMI Academy in conjunction with NACHI.
This course will be instructed by Joe Farsetta. Joe is known for creating and instructing courses that are comprehensive and packed with vital information and without a lot of fluff and time fillers. Once course dates are release I would recommend early registration as they course has been in high demand even before it was completed.

Re: Commercial Inspection Training
Carson Dunlop or Kaplan/ITA would be your best best. They both have a great commercial course that does more than skimming the surface. They have taught thousands of folks around this country and in Canada. Carson Dunlop would be my first choice. As you are in Georgia, I would look at ITA simply because they have a large school in Atlanta. CD offers their class a few times a year at various locations.

Re: Commercial Inspection Training
It looks like Carson Dunlap is almost twice the cost of ITA: $1600 and $700 respectively. Is the Carson course that good? Have you guys gone through either company's courses or just heard that they are good? Thanks.

I have taken the Carson course, it was a few hundred less when I took it. As for Kaplan/ITA I only know the folks that wrote the material. All are top notch. They did not offer this when I took the Carson course. Truth be known I think that Kaplan/ITA might even be using some of the Carson material as they both have a relationship with Dearborn Publishing.
For that amount I would take the Kaplan/ITA course and if I still had a hunger for more commercial education I would look at Carson a year or so down the road. But, I'm also an education junkie.

Re: Commercial Inspection Training
Since the last post, has anyone taken a commercial course from CDW Eng. or Kaplan ITA or taken a recent course from either? Which is the best for the money? Thanks

Re: Commercial Inspection Training
Another question, those have taken a commercial course, are you getting the work? Was it a worthy investment?
