    Default Gas supply line tap

Saw this today. Just past gas meter they added a 3/8 line with one of those valves like on a freon can. Can't be legal right? It was for a gas grill.

Dude.... those quick connects sometimes hang in the open position!! The is a no-no.

Is that a painted copper line tapped off the main service line?

Hmmmm ... I wonder if they turned the gas off when they drilled that hole in the steel pipe with a steel bit? Hmmmmm ...

Nah. Anyone smart enough to think of that would not do that anyway.

Cool Re: Gas supply line tap

yeah, and where did those metal shavings go?

    How about that illegal bushing?

    Compression fitting?

    Unprotected copper?

yes, illegal fitting. Not listed in the gas codes as an approved fitting. Just because it works for water doesn't make it ok for gas.

Keep the fire in the fireplace.
