discolored cpvc on water heater
Anyone ever see cpvc stain like this, and why?
This is from the TPR valve on a gas water heater.
And yes, it had other issues like being too close to the washing machine, cpcv on the supplies too close to vent pipe, vent pipe too close to ceiling combustibles, no seismic straps, and no drip pan to name a few.

Wes,
I'm guessing that's from 'mist' from the clothes washer right next to it.

Re: discolored cpvc on water heater
Jerry,
Will soap stain CPVC?
Or it might be bleach.
I hadn't thought of that.

I'm going with Nicotine. Have seen that in homes with smokers.

Re: discolored cpvc on water heater
I'm going with either a combination of cleaning products from the washing machine falling out on the pipe, or someone did the good old Rit tie-dye powder trick in the machine.

It did not rub off and was only on the one pipe.
