    Hi,
I just had a quick question. Is it illegal to have an electric water heater in the bedroom closet?? Thanks in advance.

It is allowed to have an electric WH in a bedroom closet, as long as it is accessible for servicing.

Jerry's comment got me to look up the requirements.
    My original post is incomplete.
("It is allowed to have an electric WH in a bedroom closet, as long as it is accessible for servicing.")
An electric WH can be located in a bedroom closet if/when other conditions are met.
It is not likely that all the conditions are being met.
Specifically the requirement that the space not be used for " Storage" and the requirement for " clearance to combustibles".
Below are some of the requirements that I found that apply.
There are other requirements that apply that I did not show.

    CHAPTER 28
    WATER HEATERS
P2801.2 Installation.Water heaters shall be installed in accordance
with this chapter and Chapters 20 and 24.
P2801.3 Location. Water heaters and storage tanks shall be
located and connected to provide access for observation, maintenance,
    servicing and replacement.
P2801.4 Prohibited locations. Water heaters shall be located
    in accordance with Chapter 20.

    CHAPTER 20
    BOILERS AND WATER HEATERS

M2005.3 Electric water heaters. Electric water heaters shall
also be installed in accordance with the applicable provisions
    of Chapters 33 through 42.

    CHAPTER 24

    FUEL GAS
    (Chapter 24 does not apply)

    SECTION E3305
    EQUIPMENT LOCATION AND CLEARANCES
E3305.1 Working space and clearances. Sufficient access
And working space shall be provided and maintained around all
electrical equipment to permit ready and safe operation and
maintenance of such equipment in accordance with this section
    and Figure E3305.1.
E3305.4 Location of working spaces and equipment.
Required working space shall not be designated for storage.

E4001.2 Installation. Appliances and equipment shall be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation
instructions. Electrically heated appliances and equipment
shall be installed with the required clearances to combustible
    materials.
