When a dishwasher drains its water, how much is the average volume?

I was wondering if the sink drain trap was clogged, would it be possible for the dishwasher drain water to back up into the sink and overflow onto the floor?

Garbage disposal was seized and clogged at yesterdays inspection. Dishwasher backed up into the sink and filled that half of the sink with about 2" of water. It was a foreclosure, I think the sink had cement poured in the garbage disposer.

Same thing here yesterday but I noticed the clogged disposal first and elected to not run the dishwasher. This is what prompted me to ask the question.
