    Its an A&O Smith serial: ALO30054686 I'm pretty sure its an 86 which is original to the unit.

    It looks like a year 2000 to me. If I am correct I think the first 2 letters are a manufacturers location.

    The next 2 numbers are manufactured month = March.

    The next 2 numbers are the year = 2000.

    The last 5 numbers are the unit manufactured number at this facility.

    I usually look for an ANSI date on the manufactures tag to somewhat verify this when I am in doubt.

    If I need corrected please feel free to do so.

    According to Water Heater Models it's a 2003!

    A L03 0054686

    L = November
    03 = 2003

    The above statements are expressed solely as my opinion and in all probability will conflict with someone else's.
