Ejector pump
This is for a wet bar. Is a check valve required and does that coupling below the shut off function as a check or simple a coupling.

Not sure if a check valve is required but that rubber coupling/connector doesn't look like a check valve to me.

Check valve could be intergral to the pump.

a backwater or check valve required before the gate or ball valve.
