Default Kitchen P-Trap under the floor

Can a kitchen P-Trap be installed under the floor? I thought the only P-Trap allowed under the floor was a tub or shower. Under the floor in goes right into the drain and is vented.

There is a P-Trap under the floor in case that was not clear.

The fixture tailpiece can't be more than 24", so, the under-the-floor question might be moot.

The trap must be accessible (not hidden in the wall or between floor and ceiling, etc., but I don't see a prohibition specifically addressing the trap being under the floor.

If you think about it, most tub and shower traps are under the floor if the house has a basement or crawlspace. As John said as long as it is not over 24" it should be fine.

In really cold climates, are there ever any issues with the water in the trap freezing and causing issues?

Thanks men, the trap is accessible and vented like you would normally see under the sink. Although it is longer than 24" so it seams that is the remaining issue. Thank you!

Certainly. It happened to me with my washing machine trap.
