Re: Help with this pictures PLS
Guess?? we are looking at sewer gas eating the top of cast pipe which is typical, that vents at a poor location of an adjoining intersecting roof line

Some crappy wiring.
#1 Mix of Knob & Tube , Lamp Cord , NMSC, and Low Voltage .
* unknown ( maybe coaxial cable) under split cast iron waste line.
#2 Plumbing Vent before an Addition almost blocked it with abandoned low voltage wire ran thru it.

Re: Help with this pictures PLS
It is a cast iron sewer pipe with a crack in it. It should be replaced.
I'll bet that knob and tube wiring is abandoned but you never know. (Sometimes a voltage sniffer will give a false positive reading if there is active wiring running parallel to the wire.)
The plumbing vent is in a poor location and probably has been since they put the toilet in the house. If there's a flashing there at all, it is leaking.
That wire is somebody's old radio antenna or Grandpa's safety line for sneaking out the window.
The shingle siding is falling off. And there could be several layers on that old roof.
