    Default water heater glop

4 year old 40 gallon Bradford White water heater.

    What's with the yellow glop?

I would think foam insulation used to insulate the tank.

What would cause it to glorp (technical term) out of the tank like that?

It's a bradford white, it has issues by its very existence. Tell the client to throw it in the alley.

I cant tell from my view of the pic, but is that fitting a T&P valve? If so, where is the "blow-off" pipe?
I dont think that that water heater has ever had exterior insulation.

The injection of the foam insulative sleeve has leaked out when it was injected.

No big deal, just poor quality control before it was sent out to market.

Yes, that's the T&P valve. Yes, missing the discharge pipe. Extremely common finding in these parts.
Not sure what your point is about exterior insulation, though.

Sorry about that comment ref the insulation. I had another type of insulated W/H in mind, a type that has foam insulation on the exterior skin. Careless of me - due to rushing.
