Is this a grease trap or cleanout or what?
What is this thing. It was being used by one sink that did not have a trap. Is it a grease trap?

That is an old WADE grease interceptor or grease trap.

That is not a grease trap, it is a Model 5740 solids interceptor. They are normally installed in hair salons to catch the hair. In some cases they are installed as a plaster trap in doctors and dentist offices.
