    Default Backflow diverter hood ?

Here is something I have never seen and I think I know what it is. The old cast iron waste tied into a clay pipe and went to the city sewer. The hood at the junction looks like a back flow diverter that diverts the backflow from the city to spray down rather than up onto the sub floor. The gray matter seems to be where the sewer has back flowed into the house.

I think you are correct and I think that I'd write that up. First of all, YUCK! Secondly, you have to wonder why the sewer has backed up and thirdly, YUCK! Sewage in the crawlspace is what every client wants to hear.......

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
