    Default Unknown Pipe Clamp.

    Hi all!

This is the interior side of a frost proof hose bibb installation, but this clamp widget has me scratching my head. Can someone enlighten me as to what and why?

Thanks a lot for your help with this.

The clamp is there to stop a pinhole water leak.

    Agreed, it's a repair clamp.

I suspect there are or will be other pin hole leaks.

I think so also. I tried to find the thread where we had discussion about pinhole leaks in copper water lines but could not find it.

......the why is that someone did not disconnect a hose during freezing weather and the bib froze far enough in towards the stop to rupture the faucet barrel/housing. I'm sure there will be no further issues, providing the clamp is secure........Greg

I'm guilty of doing something like that back in the late 70's. Both frostless sill cocks froze and split. When I turned on water outside in the Spring there was, of course, a flood in the crawl space. No fancy clamps for me! I don't now if they even existed then. I cut a piece of copper pipe to make partial wrap to go over the splits, applied at lot of silicone and 3 worm clamps on each split. Never had another leak from them. Lucky I guess.

The above statements are expressed solely as my opinion and in all probability will conflict with someone else's.
