Default IRC and PVC supply pipe

Question for you guys more familiar with IRC plumbing code.
Does the Code allow 3/4' PVC with purple primer and orange glue for potable water?
Our Code does not, but not sure about 2012 IRC plumbing code, I can't imagine.
    Any reference helpful.
    Thanks, Markus

    Markus,

The IRC does not allow PVC for use as distribution piping, only permitted on the supply side for the water service piping up to the exterior of the structure, not inside (which includes 'under' in the crawlspace and 'over' in the attic) or within the exterior perimeter of the structure.

I've been told by plumbers that the orange glue for CPVC is "hot" (their terminology) and will "burn" (their terminology ... melt? my terminology) through PVC.

Regardless, PVC is not to be used for that use anyway once past the service pipe (per the IRC).

I can only speak for Oatey, since that is all I've used for 30 years. Purple primer is okay for PVC or CPVC. Orange cement is only suitable for CPVC.
