    Default My first inspection

The owner of the home said this worked but it never fired up. There was a light noise but the primary controller never actually lit. My question is how much of this should I actually be writing up for future reports? (this is just a friends house) I was wondering if I should just write "didn't fire up recommend examination of a professional contractor " instead of picking apart everything #TheMoreYouKnow

It doesn't work fine if it doesn't fire up when thermostat calls for heat.
Its well past its life expectancy, inefficient, leaking, asbestos like material patches, over firing, improper slope of exhaust flue, et ceteras...

Again I would not go into extraneous detail, but would strongly advise it be replaced ASAP, it doesn't need professional assessment, that would be an unnecessary waste of money.

I bet, and 5 would certainly get you 10, some inspectors may report the older American Radiator as serviceable, but these OLDER boilers are past their prime by many moons.
When you see names on boilers like, Arcoflash, Redlfash, it becomes obvious the mechanical electrical era was in its infancy.
Radiator installers at work: "Harry pass me a hand full of that asbestos in the bag please so I can seal the opening in the boiler pipe 90% before we encapsulate it all with plaster and mesh."
"Geez Louise Harry! Not again. Wipe away those asbestos fibers off your nose and mouth. You do not want the home owners to think we are not professional."
"I heard he is a doctor. Ask him about the cough you have been experiencing ever since we started insulating pipes this way."

Try writing a short list of defects and recommend a replacement by a more energy efficient model that will pay for itself in a short time as well as add overall comfort to the home.

Pst...You can also report it is serviceable and get your phone ringing by agents until you are under-bussed.

Aaron and members. Sorry for the jocularity.
