flex gas line through solid walls ???
Inspection on a six year old modular home in Vermont. There were flexible LP gas lines run through the walls and floor joists including the exterior wall to the storage tank. Can I get clarification on not allowing flexible gas lines being run through a solid wall??

Re: flex gas line through solid walls ???
Small photo, but that looks like CSST, as opposed to a flex connector. CSST you can run in hidden areas and through walls, etc.
Do a search here on CSST and you'll find a ton of info.

Re: flex gas line through solid walls ???
That pipe can be ran through walls and such but it must have manufacture nail guards installed if it is ran horizontal through a wall and nail guards on the joists. Here is a PDF of the striker plates and the item they call floppy galvanized steel conduit, which is used to protect the flex pipe from nail strikes on a horizontal run. http://www.fwwebb.com/pdf/htgcat03/2003htgcat_p102.pdf

Re: flex gas line through solid walls ???
Go to the Gastite website and get the installation manual for CSST.

Be very careful about CSST routed through an attic and as it routes near a roof deck and down a wall to a meter or an appliance.

As noted it must have nail guards and if routed near the roof deck ... there "must" be clearance or protection as shingle nails do and will penetrate.
