Re: Australian Vent pipe
Wayne, is this an oil water heater? If so, there is an 18" clearance off that chimney connector pipe. That means improper clearance to the foam insulation on the water pipes and the drywall and framing as well.

Also, chimneys and connectors are not designed or approved for positive flue gas pressure.

The downhill run is grossly improper, of course.

That barometric damper is not leveled and appears to be all taped up.

No screws used at joints. Foil tape not allowed.

No cleanout in chimney

Can this chimney serve both appliances at once? Those water heaters are generally high BTU/ GPH rates.

What is the condition of the chimney. Have a liner?

Any more pics?
Bob

Re: Australian Vent pipe
Thanks BOB, Yeah I got all those things, along with CO readings while running the unit. I think the original unit was a shorter 30 gallon and they upgraded,
or downgraded in this case to a taller 50 gal. unit.
Client walked, broker blamed me, I blamed you and gave her all your numbers and info HAHAHA Thanks for the continued efforts. Wayne Soper
