Jerry may be right as to the code, but in NY the code also states that local law can over ride State and or National code. We have a large amount of CPVC piping and even some PVC piping that is labeled as use with potable water. That pipe in NY would not last one winter.
*CPVC* is okay for use as supply/distribution piping.
It's the *PVC* that is not.
However, PVC *is* rated for use for potable water, which is why it is allowed outside for the water service pipe.
Are you sure that *PVC* is allowed for supply/distribution piping inside?
