New water meters with check valve
I heard about new style water meters being installed in some municipalities while I was at the TAREI seminar and low and behold I think I saw my first one up in Little Elm today.
I would not swear to it, but it looks like there is a check valve on the tail end inside the meter box.
This was a 9 year old economy box house that had been vacant for a while (foreclosure).
I saw fresh dirt out at the meter box and the city came and replaced the cover while I was there; wish I would have caught them so I could have hit the guy up for some information.
Anyway, if this is really happening, we should be calling out the need for thermal expansion protection on these systems since the check valve will create a closed system.
