Almost Got Me
While walking around a home this morning I was jotting down some notes when the neighbors T&P drain line released and shot out steaming hot water.
If I had been another several feet up the side of the house, it would have got me for sure.
I let the homeowners know what was going on, and they acted like I had inconvenience them by letting them know. The line was at the ground surface.

Re: Almost Got Me
Hey Buddy you know this but "No good deed goes unpunished"
Glad it missed you.
Did you by chance take a temp reading, enough to scald I'm sure?
Don't you just love the old FJ, Centex...grade level installs that have been altered by lawn mowers?
This was mine last week, note the gravity drain

Re: Almost Got Me
I'm surprised the homeowner didn't say: "We know...how else do you think we water that side of the lawn"

Re: Almost Got Me
Barry,
You asked how hot was it.
I didn't measure it, but you can see the steam off the water in the picture.

Re: Almost Got Me
Rick,
Glad you weren't injured. Just goes to show that someone could've been seriously hurt.
Barry, I like your photo. It looks like they've tapped the TPR into the soaker hose to keep the foundation warm and moist.

Re: Almost Got Me
Rick,
By tomorrow they should call you to find out how you "broke their water heater."
