Re: bathroom door hitting toilet
Sketch is from WCJ.

But the clearance is from the closed door.

Re: bathroom door hitting toilet
With a router one could shape the profile of the toilet projection into the door and all would be well in Podunck, PA.

Re: bathroom door hitting toilet
Thanks Rick. So you have been down that road also? Router would make a nicer cut, but sawsalls work too.

Re: bathroom door hitting toilet
I saw one like that a few years ago at the local OSU campus. The balcony door hit the toilet when they replaced the old one with an elongated model. These were some smart kids....must have been engineering students. They cut the door and installed a carpet flap to close the opening against the cold winter wind. That was also the bathroom where the mushrooms were growing on the carpeted floor at the side of the shower.

Re: bathroom door hitting toilet
I find the condition often in powder rooms down in my area. Usually my Clients just install a door stop to prevent the door from hitting the toilet. Door stops are very inexpensive at the local home improvement centers, Wal-Mart, and Target.
