Protective vehicle stop (bollards) in garage
I inspected a 2005 built home today with a gas water heater located in garage. No vehicle protection or (bollards) were installed in front of the gas water heater. The water heater sits off to the front corner and is not in direct path with an incoming vehicle that is if your coming in straight. I am thinking that protection is still needed. What is the code or standard for vehicle protection.

Trent,

I've never seen bollard protection as of yet and will probably have a stroke the first time I see them.

IRC code {1307.3.1} states, In garage-protect from damage by vehicles

Only if they can pull the pen from my dead hand. Didn't Heston say something like that?
