    Default water bond

    Looking for opinions here on this one.
    E Contractors have been coming up with some creative ways to accomplish the intent of the NEC to bond the water in pools with the required 9 sq in. of non corrosive water contact material.

    Besides a few listed methods specifically manufactured for the purpose, are;
    The stainless bezel ring on a wet niche fixture that is bonded to the grid through the internal niche plate.
    The stainless heat exchanger in the pool gas heater that is connected. (I've checked two types already and they are internally connected to the bond connection).
    Opinions?

    Article 680.26 (C) of the NEC states

    An intentional bond of a minimum conductive surface area of 9 in. squared shall be installed in contact with the water. This bond shall be permitted to consist of parts that are required to be bonded in 680.26(B).

    680.26(B) consists of lthings like ladders, metal rings on light niches, etc., that have the 9 in. squared in contact with the water.
