    Default Plumbing definitions

Could clear up some basic plumbing definitions for me? I'm getting confused on the IRC's usages....

    - A Lavatory?

I always thought a lavatory is a the entire bathroom fixture components (sink, toilet, tub, shower, etc). Seems IRC just refers to it as a toilet?

    - A Water Closet?

I always thought a water closet was just a toilet and a sink. Seems IRC just refers to it as a toilet?

    - A Laundry tray?

I've never heard this term before so I don't have a clue?

    - A Laundry tub?

I think the IRC means the washer?

thanks, as I go away feeling very stupid....stupid is as stupid does...

    That's the bathroom sink.

    That's the toilet/commode.

    - A Laundry tray?
Basically think of it as a ...

    - A Laundry tub?
One of those utility tubs in laundry rooms next to the clothes washer where they 'used to do laundry in' but nowadays just serves as a laundry room sink. The older ones were frequently two or three compartments, the newer ones are just one compartment.

A laundry tray and laundry tub as basically one and the same.

I figured the laundry tray as being that pan on the wall around the cold / hot faucets and the drain pipe.

What is that thing actually called?

I thought the laundry tray was the pan under the washer that is connected to a drain, for use in areas (such as second floor) where broken hose etc. could cause water damage. Just my thought on it.
