drain venting
2005 house; the pool and spa had pipes that appeared to be vent pipes for the drains, but htey were capped off. Both the pool and spa had two drain locations with anti vortex covers. Am i missing something? these vents are not needed? or ?

Re: drain venting
If (because I can't see the rest of the piping & equipment) those pipes are part of the Suction Limiting Vent System, they need to be open to the atmosphere with tamper resistant covers. If a high vacuum event occurs, the air from the vents breaks the suction.

Re: drain venting
Typically I see two 90 degree elbows installed on top of those, leaving the opening down-turned.
As Dom said, they need to be open.

Re: drain venting
Could this be for future plumbing? I didn't see where the pipes were connected to the pool equipment. I've seen this when folks plan a fountain, or other water feature.
Just came to mind when I saw the pics.
Take it easy
