can you splice two hard pipe gas lines using a flex line?
under manufactured home where the two sides of the house were joined together, are hard pipe gas lines that did not line up, so they joined the two pipes together using flex line.
Is this to code/legal? is this common? this is in Arizona.
I am having trouble uploading pictures.

Re: can you splice two hard pipe gas lines using a flex line?
I can't be sure whether that connection is permitted by the gas safety authority for your area, or if you even have such a thing. But the usual building code rules probably do not apply.
If it is permitted by the manufacturer of the home, then that is usually the standard that will be applied, AFAIK. You could ask the building official in your town if the local building code applies to your manufactured home, and specify that it is a gas installation you are concerned about.
Then you could ask the installers to change the connection to hard pipe. Maybe you smelled gas in the crawlspace?

Re: can you splice two hard pipe gas lines using a flex line?
I would have an issue with using an appliance connector in the application, CSST would most likely be OK. All up to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (local code or building official). Attached is an illustration from another inspector (Rueben Saltzman at StructureTech) showing CSST line and a flex appliance connector.

Re: can you splice two hard pipe gas lines using a flex line?
Really common with manufactured/mobile homes. Since the two halves are two units that are connected together, any electrical, gas or plumbing connection needs to be able to flex, at least a bit. In addition, when they marry the two halves together, they need to have a method to connect the gas piping together. Specific information would require contacting the manufacturer.

Re: can you splice two hard pipe gas lines using a flex line?
.......all the above comments are correct. The only thing to check, is to determine if the connector was, in fact, the one supplied by the home manufacturer........Greg

Re: can you splice two hard pipe gas lines using a flex line?
Hopefully (but unlikely, unless the manufactured home was new) the manufacturer's installation and setup guide is there. Those installation and setup guides specify everything about the installation and setup of the manufactured homes.
Building codes only address from the connection points (gas, electrical, plumbing, etc) from the manufactured home outward to the site utilities.
