Code Check Illustrations For Reports
Does anyone know if Code Check sells their illustrations for use in reports. This seems like it would be beneficial to help clients visualize some of the topics in their reports. Im sure its copyrighted material, so I wouldnt want to just arbitrarily scan it and cut and paste the referencing illustrations. Anyone have any input on this?

My books all say Illustrated by Paddy Morrissey - I took a cont. ed class taught by Redwood Kardon a few years ago and it was very well put together. He commented about the illustrations quite a bit. They are really well done.

Yes they do. I have Code Check and the Illustrated home. Both are great additions to reports. Check with ITA for either one.

Re: Code Check Illustrations For Reports
Thanks all. I just did a google search and CarsonDunlop indicates:

"An Ideal Business Source for Home Inspectors

* Our licensing agreement allows you unlimited use of the images for home inspection reports and promotional activities including advertisements, brochures, newsletters and presentations."

Does anyone know if there is Inspection Report software with this feature built into it that meets TREC requirements?

I'm pretty sure that there is not a software developer that "includes" graphics with their application. That would raise the cost of same quite a bit.

If you buy Carson Dunlap's or the other products out there it is easy to include the images in your software application's database for use.

Not all the companies make a template for the TREC 7A-0 form. It is not cost-effective for them to do so.

Also keep in mind that the TREC SOP and 7A-0 form is in the process of undergoing revision. Most recent meets were in Austin last week on Monday thru Wednesday at TREC HQ.

More meetings are planned and posted at the TREC website. IF all is approved it is likely the changes will become effective later this year.

Here's hoping you and other Texas HIs have been keeping up with the potential changes and requests for input from all TX inspectors.

Re: Code Check Illustrations For Reports
John,
Our software complies to the TREC standards and will comply to any changes that happen by the end of this year. We have a version of our software that also includes over 600 diagrams from Mr. Fix It. You get the CD with our software where you can include them automatically with any comment or material item selected automatically.

Nolan:

Good idea, in theory. But, sadly, it does not work that way. The corps de corpses d.b.a. the TRECIC is deaf, blind and totally disinterested in anything other than justifying their positions through broker/agent/attorney appeasement.

Yearly re-inventing the wheel in order to spin it around and around over the same old ground is perhaps progress in some circles, like in Austin, for example. In the real world it's called stagnation. Sisyphus incarnate.

Say it ain't so.

Re: Code Check Illustrations For Reports
AHIT Texas has a button incorprated to easily insert "The Illustrated Home" as well as other clip art, etc. but the clip art costs extra. Good program, and very customizable.

Aaron,

Fully understand/agree, but I've always been the "forever optimist" in spite of whatever problems I have to deal with or overcome.

Bottom line is that I'm very happy to have my heart ticking each morning, etc., etc.

AND ... most of all keeping very busy with my inspections.

Would like to have a spot of coffee with you some day when we can carve out some time.

Didn't the NACHI web site used to have a library of illustrations on it.

I know I downloaded quite a few from it, but now it seems to be gone.

Me too, I just tint my optimism with a drop or two of realism. Sort of like yellow and blue make green, voilą, I get cynicism. If captious, faultfinding critic who believes that human conduct is motivated wholly by self-interest is your definition of a cynic, then yes, I plead guilty to all of the above. Most of the time.

You carve and call, I'll buy.
