How about that storm, Brandon? Did you get any work through it? I actually have an inspection tomorrow and have to find all my stuff.
I did 2 jobs during the storm and had 5 cancel........ just did one of the cancellations today (5 plex).

I had one Realtor call and actually ask me "so you need to do the inspection tomorrow, how are you going to inspect the roof" He re- scheduled........

    How's business going for you?

Adding pictures to my report has went from 4 clicks to a click and drag.

I also agree with the "...(codes, documents, installation instructions, whatever) and copy and paste with ease..." Jerry Peck made.

Jerry, here is something you may want when you decide to increase the number of monitors.

Can you enlighten me as to why someone would want 2 monitors running off of the same computer?

I was hoping that would be the answer, but I can't quite figure out how you can have 2 separate windows open while using the same computer. Any help would be great, seeing as how I am sittting on a 19" external monitor I had to buy to finish a report last week. My laptop screen went out and I couldn't see the report which was nearly complete.

Sounds pretty cool........ So you're saying I shouldn't have bought a second laptop in order to run 2 screens at once?

Two monitors are better than one

I disagree with the statement: "Installing video adapters can be difficult if you're not familiar with the inside of your computer..." I think it's easy even if you're not familiar.

I've had (2) separate monitors for quite awhile. While typing up the report, I have the pictures taken during the inspection on the other monitor so its like having notes right there in front of you.

I use a KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) adapter to switch between computers... it's nice to be able to switch to a usable machine when you're re-booting or converting a pdf. My main problem is the malfunction in my brain that prevents me from realizing that I can't copy/paste between machines. I just keep trying and it never works!!!!

    Brandon,

Biz is about like you describe..... it's generally just piss poor but the holidays and weather really took the bottom out. I drove to Falls City last Friday (small town 15 miles west of Dallas which is 15 miles west of Salem) for a pest/dry rot inspection in a snowstorm last Friday..... if that's any indication of how things are

All you need is a video driver with two outputs to drive two displays.

You can then set the two monitors up to act as one large display, or to act as two separate displays - I've got mine set up to act as two separate displays with the ability to re-size a window across both if I want to (neat, but of no real use).

Now, just open up two windows, reduce the size of one, drag it over to the other display, then maximize it. You now have two maximized windows, one on each display.

I've frequently had 8-10 windows open on my left display while working on a report or something on my right display. I can switch between the windows on the left display down in the Task Bar.[/quote]

    Rick,

I've found that it is more useful to have my two displays side-by-side, saves having to turn from display to display.

The first photo shows one window stretched across both displays (Google earth zoom in).

The second photo shows two windows open, one on each display.

The third photo shows one window being moved from one display to another.

This is one of the features I like. Click to go on the Internet and it shows up on the right screen. Click on something the requires another window to appear (in this case Jerry's picture of his computers) and it pops up on the left screen.

I don't know about three screens but two screens makes things more efficient.

Or buy a second video driver for 40 to 80 dollars. Windows XP will recognize that you have two video drivers installed and you'll only have to click a few buttons to set up the two screens from one CPU.

You may have to open "NVIEW desktop manager" and enable the second monitor. You will find the program in "Control Panel" the name of the program on my PC is "NVIDIA nView". I am using Windows XP pro.
