Strange roof vents
Found these strange roof vents on a 1977 double-wide. Home has original metal roof. There are two of these vents at each end of the roof, appear to be attic vents. They are not plumbing vents or exhaust fan vents. Has anyone seen these before. I am thinking the original roof vents were removed and someone installed the louvered covers.

Re: Strange roof vents
Thats what I thought. The funny thing was I could not find any water stains in ceiling. Probably just a matter of time.

Re: Strange roof vents
Soffit vents stuffed into/over plumbing vents?
If so, no leakage problem, but it would sure restrict the venting of the plumbing system.

Re: Strange roof vents
OP said that they are not plumbing vents. What else could they be but "southern engineered" soffit vents?

Re: Strange roof vents
I just Googled soffit vents/ images, and after making it through one of my competitor's insights on attic ventilation (aargh!!!), I came upon this image:
