Attic Temperatures...
It's been quite a while since anyone has posted on the issue of attic temperatures. Is that because the issue has become less prevalent these days due to the increased use of attic temperature reduction products? I have been keeping a log of attic temperatures in AZ, CT and NY. I am looking for as many current datapoints as I can get. In as many states, in as many months (throughout year not just summer) and under as many conditions (type of roof, etc) that I can. The existing data on this is very sparse. I would actually like to create a database. Any input on what you are finding out there would be great. Thx!

Re: Attic Temperatures...
What purpose are you going after, just curiosity or what?
Without some guiding parameters random temperatures in varying constructions styles and weather conditions is going to be pretty meaningless.
I'm sure at least once a year, attic temperatures in NY are going to be hotter than in Texas but I'm not seeing where you are going with this. Not meaning to rain on your parade but I need to see the why behind the what in order to see much purpose.

Re: Attic Temperatures...
Hi: 105° Mostly sunny. An isolated shower or thunderstorm possible after noon. Highs around 104. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain less than 20 percent. Highest heat Index readings around 110 in the afternoon.
I would venture to say that the attics this afternoon in our area will feel like 150 unless there is a radiant barrier and some pretty good ventilation. And then it will only feel like 130.
Still just a tad hot....don't you think?

The post is a spam from a "energy" company that sells roof/attic vent products.

I was down in your neck of the woods once, turned the cold water on in the motel---warm came out (swore about the crazy plumbers mixing up the pipes), turned on the hot---hot came out. Spoke to the front desk----this is normal down there. Everything gets hot when its hot!!!!!
