    Default Metal drip edge

Lately have found many homes with no metal drip edge and have called it out as a problem, all of the shingle companies that I contacted recommend that the edging be installed. Was wondering what any of you would think

    Thanks

Drip edge flashing? What's that? Only one in a hundred roofs have that here.

I call for it to be added if the lower edge of the sheathing is getting wet, insufficient overhang.

Drip edge is required when a cedar roof is converted to asphalt shingles, as the plywood edge is exposed at the eave and rake. from new if the fascia is installed to cover the plywood leading edge it is not required...in this neck of the woods anyway.

Most newer construction I see here use gutters with an extended upper edge that acts as a drip edge. As long as the tar paper is properly lapped over it I've never seen a problem and don't call it out as a defect.

I do the same. I seem to recall that this topic has been debated before.......
