a little more tar and that sucker won't leak
Saw this yesterday and thought I would share. I ask my self to what extent will builders go to just to screw up. This was for a gas log fireplace put in when the house was built.

William. Any signs of leaks on the inside? Just curios.

No leaks noted on ceiling around brick fireplace, the room the fireplace is in has a cathedral ceiling and as much as I wanted to get back to the area where the chimney pipe goes through the roof I could not safely. The buyer was there and I noted my concerns.
My own personal feeling is not will it leak but when.

William,
That is how the architect probably designed it and the builder built it per the prints.
Design flaw.

Placing a chimney in a valley is never a good idea.
