    Default Lamarite slate by Tamko

Does anyone know of failures of this product?
I just inspected one that the tiles are falling off the roof. The ones still on the roof are very brittle, crumbling. Lots of problem areas with cracks even at the exposed cut-outs on the underlying shingle. Definitely not impact or traffic on the roof.

Yes, I've done the same but I am looking for firsthand information. There does not seem to be a clearcut consensus but rather some less than credible posts and lots of roofers that seem to like it.

Here's a successful complaint filed with a Division of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. ( including a rebuttal from Tamko.)
