    Default Fastener corrosion

The clay tile roof was attached with wire ties. House was near the water (SF bay area). 1985 construction. The ferrous wire ties were rusted out and I was able to lift and remove tiles at will. Look out for a seemingly nice looking tile roof. Pull at one or two tiles , or look under neath. Copper wire ties (with copper nails) are the preferred attachment method in a corrosive environment.
