METAL ROOF TYPE
GUYS
I know this has been brought up before, but i can't seem to find the thread here. metal roof with granules or stone cover--who makes this--i found Tilcor but is there a more popular manufacture

I have heard of Tilcor, Decra, Boral, but there are probably others.
Is this the type that commonly overlays a wood shake or wood shingle?
If so, around here, the most common around here (California) is Decra

Stone coated steel or granulated metal roofs seem to be sold in bursts around here: not very common, then I see a bunch of them, then it's quiet again.
Dura-Loc had a defect with their product losing the granules, leaving a smooth metal panel.
I typically see them installed to replace an aged or failed tile roof, sometimes (rarely) replacing asphalt shingles. All (or nearly all) or our wood shake/shingle roofs are gone now.
