Hip ridge vent
First time I've seen this. Looks like the set up is prone to trouble.
New construction (area underneath was finished.)
This is in the Boston area (cold snowy / wet / windy / ice dams etc.)
Any comments

Re: Hip ridge vent
It's prone to leaking. It's designed as an exhaust vent and in its current configuration it will act as an intake. Not only that but it likely won't vent the attic space at all.

I'm not aware of any manufacturer of ridge vents that condone that installation.

Re: Hip ridge vent
That looks like "ridge vent" and may not be "hip vent" The baffles are designed different so down hill water won't run in it. I have installed hip vent before but paid no mind as to who made it.
Here is what I'm talking about:
Trimline Products

Re: Hip ridge vent
That's what I call disfunctional roof framing! What a place for a hip?
