Roof Type
Is this EPDM? Single ply right? If so why do they need River rock?

"Looks like" an EPDM roof with gravel ballast on it.

Unusual to see gravel ballast on an EPDM roof (I've seen it before, but not often).

Down in South Florida, and other hurricane regions where the wind speed is greater than 120 mph, those loose stones are the reason Small Missile Impact protection is required for glass from 30 feet to 60 above grade (and really should be specified and installed for glazing all the way up).

Me thinks that someone might have put that there for added UV and fire protection for the roof.

I would be surprised to hear that S. Fla. would allow rock covering (i.e.; missles).
