What is the current electrical requirements for garbage disposals? (a) Where is the switch required? (b) Is an outlet required under the sink cabinet? When I remodeled my kitchen 4 years ago the disposal required its own circuit, the switch was required on the wall, not under the cabinet and an outlet was required under the cabinet to plug the disposal into. This is what the electrician said was required.

Do you mean the NEC code in force in New Jersey as of 10/8/2009 as adopted by the uniform construction code. Or the one in force at the time your permit was issued per the UCC?
