Plant - Fungus ID

Anyone care to guess what type of plant or fungus this is.
It was growing out of a large retaining wall, about a year old, in Dover NH.

Looks like a plant to me. Something's Ears? Lamb's Ears?

Plant infected with a Fungus. I see under homes in Calif all the time.

That's one of those green weeds with the fuzz all over it. LAMbs ear Yeah! Kinda like a lambs ear. BAAAAAAAAAAAAA

That's what it was, lambs ear.
I saw another one in someone's garden and it was labeled.

It looks more like mullien, a common roadside weed. They send up a spike about 5 to 6' tall, with yellow flowers. That one won't live long enough, though.
