Cut valley installation
Is this valley installled correctly. I realize several corners need to be cut, but otherwise what do you think. It appears the raised middle aspect of the tab is restricting flow in the valley.

Re: Cut valley installation
They are not really cut back properly. The cut should be on the side of the greatest flow so the dominant water flow can't get up under the cut.
That principal is a little too hard to grasp for some people.
The roofer will say that there is so much goop sludge and tar under that valley that it will never leak.

Re: Cut valley installation
On that valley, that would be cut back 2" to the right side, the higher roof side.
However, I see an even bigger problem, the "cut" valley was made by laying some shingles straight up the valley, then laying the other shingles onto those shingles, ending short of the valley.
They really screwed that valley up.

I didn't have a specific explanation other than classifying it as JDLR.

Re: Cut valley installation
I had a roofing manufacturer represenative out to a job that I failed the final inspection on, this being one of the issues I had. He was happy to see that they had laid the shingles straight up the valley because the shingles on top of them would be sealed by the adhesive strip. Some other things he wasn't so happy about.
