Messy Workmanship In Panel
Just curious how often you mention messy workmanship in panels. The pics are not the best I had to crop them, but you get the idea.

Re: Messy Workmanship In Panel
I've seen some proverbial rats nests in panels but unless there is something wrong, I don't write it up. However, I have written it up when the wires won't even stay inside the front of the box interior with the deadfront cover removed.

Re: Messy Workmanship In Panel
No code violation that I can see from pics.
Visually messy is not a hazard in most cases because; in most cases there really isn't sufficient room for a neat installation especially when the neutral/grounding busses are located at the top of the panel.
Whenever I encounter a real neat job, usually all the conductors are tie-rapped together, I make the installer cut em off and spread them out...making it more messy.
I really appreciate when the conductors are neatly cut exactly to length so that a bunch of wire nuts can be installed at the next service upgrade.

Re: Messy Workmanship In Panel
We probably all have some messy panel boxes, which seems to be the norm. So when I see a well kept panel (no code issues, no rust, etc,) I like to make a general comment as a good will jesture, like "well maintained panel box". It makes the owner "feel good" and the buyer is glad to have a good panel.

The above statements are expressed solely as my opinion and in all probability will conflict with someone else's.
