Master Plumber
I'm sure this seemed like a great idea at the time.... Leak? No way it will ever leak
I'm also thinking this might be a hair over the allowed boring spec.

Sometimes you just gotta wonder. It looks like that beam was sistered with dimensional lumber. Do you think that was a response to the bored beam?

Re: Master Plumber
Yeah, it was.... the 'sisters' were only about 18" long though and poorly nailed..... and rotted like everything else. The structural aspect of it isn't beyond repair. It's actually something we see all the time in "crawl space land" - drain falls at a beam and they have to notch it too much so they just post down on either side of the notch. The biggest problem is when the drain leaks (which they always do eventually) it rots a beam instead of just some decking.

Looks like you earned your fee there, Matt. Nice insulation, too.
I'm picturing the plumber drilling down into that beam. "Dang, this floor is thick!"

Shoot, Nick is looking at those pics and saying, "looks like a nice place to me"
If it weren't for lawyers, we would never need them.
