Re: FURNACE AGE BY BRAND NAME--NEED A GOOD WEB SITE
Charlie,
I just started poking around this forum a couple of days ago and came across your post. You can find what I think is the same chart that Billy posted above at TIJ, another really good forum. This link will take you to the thread where the creator posted it. Just scroll down to the 8th reply and you'll find the link to the chart. The Inspector's Journal Forums - Finding furnace age
By the way, I see that you're just down the road.

Re: FURNACE AGE BY BRAND NAME--NEED A GOOD WEB SITE
Mike,
Thanks for the update. I saved the file so I could add page numbers. Then I noticed that the last line on the last page says "Updated February 20, 2008. Is this the correct file? Maybe you could add the update date to the top of the first page? I appreciate your work.
Charlie,
Couldn't click on your email link, don't know why it didn't act like a link.
Yes I'm a H.I. here in CO. Been doing inspections of one sort or another in the Boulder/Denver area since the 80's, when I took a job inspecting retro-fit insulation quality with an IR camera for the LEAP program in Denver. (That camera weighed about 10 lbs. & you had to hold it on your shoulder!) Joined ASHI in 2001 & I'm a member of RMC-ASHI. If you can figure out how to do it on this forum feel free to email me directly. I'm new at the forum thing other than reading them as time permits. :-)

Re: FURNACE AGE BY BRAND NAME--NEED A GOOD WEB SITE
HEY MIKE
rheem furnace today----gas valve says--9345 --serial number is cwsd302f02940262------guesiing 1994--because last four digits--would indicate 2nd week of 1962---not that old-----1994--yes

Re: FURNACE AGE BY BRAND NAME--NEED A GOOD WEB SITE
1994 is correct, on rheems it's the 4 digits following the F in the middle that are the week & year.

Re: FURNACE AGE BY BRAND NAME--NEED A GOOD WEB SITE
I contacted Carrier to get the age of this coil.
They said 2009.
The homeowner has lived in the house for 4 years and said the unit was there when he bought it.
Any ideas?
