06-26-2010, 09:41 PM #4 Re: Glass panel garage door Re: Glass panel garage doorThere ARE 20/45/60/90-minute fire-rated glass doors.

Check the door/jamb/frame for a rating plate.

06-27-2010, 03:26 PM #6 Re: Glass panel garage door Re: Glass panel garage doorI think it is MORE than likely, especially since the home was part of a development, occupied by the builder, as a model home/office for the development. More esp. in former UBC territory circa 1995.

Few AHJs would overlook a 20-minute rating requirement for door separating residence and attached garage, especially one gaining occupancy of a public nature, early on in the development as a builder's model/office.

 DUH!

And it its got glass it "ain't" necessarily a fire rated door option either.

Jeez, Watson, get off your high rocking horse and think, man, think. Just because "If its got glass it "ain't" one of the "other options"." DOES NOT MEAN it is "the other option" (i.e., a fire rated door), it PROBABLY means it "ain't" any of the allowable options.

 Jeez.

Other than wire meshed glazing and ceramic glazing, does anyone know if other types of glazing are permitted in man doors....such as tempered glass?
Couldn't locate any labels on the unit I looked at today.
 Appreciate any feedback.

No label = not a fire rated door = not allowed unless it meets what Rick posted:
