Re: Conduct of the President of an Association.
Raymond, marketing is reality. Professionalism is a word that has many meanings and definitions.
This is my observation during my short time here.
Most inspectors market their distinctive badges or titles.
Can they be recognized by the average clients as title or title without substance?
In relationship to titles or is it title without substance.
I am proud of every accomplishment I have made including the CMI.
Who is really to blame?
You can not blame the title, nor the creator, or the association that owns the designation or titles.
Its an individuals free will.
His or her personal morality and ethical behavior.
Headlines have been made with home inspectors holding titles and designations from well known associations that I will not name.
Where educational and COE are demanded. Rigorous ethics and rems of education.
Title or title without substance?
Who's to blame?
Whats worse is empty replies or promises unfulfilled.
I have seen my fare share yet individuals still defend him or her.
I hope I made my point.
The only one to blame are the individuals that can not see the forest from the trees.!
Best regards gentlemen.
I hope this thread gathers dust now.

It would be a shame to delete accounts right before Christmas.
Stick to the Message Board rules everyone and have a very Merry Christmas!

Re: Conduct of the President of an Association.
The problem with CSA and MCS is that they allowed business interests on the panels.
Also note there are two national certifications. 1. CAHPI's and NHICC. Duplications. Created as a result of people not getting along, conflicts, egos and power playing.
And now we have a bunch of home inspectors who can't for whatever reason make a common stand against a starndard that is going to put many out of work. I guess in the end you get what you get and deserve it because a good number are pussies who refuse to rock the boat.
On the other hand may be its a good thing, more work for those that survive the cull.
And the business interests will survive such as franchises, and course providers.

Re: Conduct of the President of an Association.
Mr. Hannigan
It is a pleasure meeting you.
Unfortunately it is under these circumstances.
Let me start off by saying, please excuse my part in this ongoing sage called one set standard, and offer you and everyone here a heartfelt apology.
Honestly Brian, I have no one but myself to blame.
I will mirror the sentiments offered by freethinkers Roy Cooke, Raymond Wand and Kevin Wood and say happy holidays and wish you and yours prosperity, health and good fortune long into the new year.
Best regards.

Re: Conduct of the President of an Association.
What do you get with ASHI membership? Not much especially if your Canadian, except for a monthly magazine.
Personally ASHI had better pull up their socks, I recently sent an email inquiring if a person claiming to be an ASHI member was an ASHI member. No reply!
The find an inspector for Canada search function does not work properly, I emailed about that too, and was told it would be fixed when ASHI revamped their website. That was several months ago and the search function has been non functional for over a year.
They wanted $400 plus US for me to remain a member. I realized that the cost was not worth it and particularly in light of non replies to my queries.

Nope it doesn't put anyone in the cold, because at the end of the day I know I don't have to rely on any stinking title, I depend on my looks!
